The 37 year-old seamer has won 167 caps for his country, with his 602 wickets making him the second most successful fast bowler in Test history behind close friend James Anderson.
Broad’s decision has been motivated by his decision to finish his time in the game at the very top, and his retirement will now allow him to spend more time with fiancé Mollie King and their daughter.
Who is Stuart Broad’s fiance Mollie King?
Broad is engaged to The Saturdays star Mollie King, having popped the question on New Year’s Day 2021.
Broad first met King, 36, when a friend told the singer to send him a get well soon message when he was recovering from an injury.
They were first rumoured to be dating one another in 2012 and were in an on-off relationship until they seemingly bought it to a permanent end in 2018.
The couple reconnected in 2019 and they haven’t looked back since.
Broad and King had hoped to get married in the summer of 2021 but they pulled the plug on the plans due to fears over Covid-19.
How many children do they have together?
Broad and King announced the birth of their daughter, Annabella, in November 2022.
The pair revealed the news with a joint post on Instagram which showed King cradling Annabella in a white fluffy onesie, with another picture showing Broad kissing her face.
But just days after the birth of her first child, King was left devastated by the death of her father, who died just a month after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
This led to the inspiration for Annabella’s middle name, Hope, which the newborn baby had provided to her mother in the dark days following the passing.
King wrote on Instagram at the time: ‘Annabella has given us lots of hope over these past few difficult months, so Hope had to be one of her middle names.
‘She has been our ray of sunshine and I know she’s going to continue to light up our lives.’
Who is Stuart Broad’s father?
Broad is the son of former England cricketer Chris Broad.
Chris played 26 Tests for England, scoring six centuries in the process, as well as going on to feature in 40 ODI matches for his country.
One of his finest achievements on the cricket pitch is scoring centuries in three consecutive Tests in the 1986/97 Ashes series in Australia.
Since 2003, Chris has been a Test Match referee for the ICC.
Where is Stuart Broad’s pub?
Broad co-owns The Tap & Run pub in Upper Broughton, on the Leicestershire-Nottinghamshire border, with former teammate Harry Gurney.
The establishment, which won the Leicestershire Pub of the Year award in 2021, suffered a devastating fire in June 2022 – with Broad finding out about the incident whilst he was playing for England against New Zealand at Trent Bridge.
The pub reopened in June this year following a £1m refurbishment.
Broad and Gurney also own the Three Crowns in Wymeswold, Loughborough and The Griffin Inn in Swithland, Leicestershire, with plans to acquire further pubs in the future.
