Inside the ice hotel that inspired Disney’s Frozen

YOU can visit the hotel that was thought to be the inspiration behind the Disney film Frozen – and even stay the night.

Hotel de Glace – which translates to Ice Hotel – is open to guests in Quebec in Canada.

Every year you can expect something different as it is rebuilt with each new season.

Inside are 24 rooms and suites, each with arctic sleeping bags, as well as hot tubs and sauna on-site.

Guests are greeted with a welcome cocktail, but upgrade to a suite for a private hot tub and fire.

Back in 2014, the hotel even launched a Frozen Suite which was modelled on Anna and Elsa’s rooms.

You can only visit between January and March, due to the cold weather needed for it, with rooms starting from $399.

But when there, there is lots to do including hiking and dog-sledding.

For kids, there are climbing walls and even a snow fort for battles.

If you fancy living out your Frozen fairytale dream, you can even rent out the hotel – and ice chapel – for your wedding, complete with horse carriage, a live violinist and a VIP red carpet.

It’s not the only ice hotel in the world – there is also the Snow Hotel in Finland.

Or you can head to Sweden for the Ice Hotel, which rooms carved from snow and ice every year.

And Frozen fans should head to Austria’s Hallstatt, which looks like the fictional town of Arendelle.

The town is tucked beneath the Salzkammergut mountains in Austria and has been dubbed “the most Instagrammable town in the world”.

The Alpine beauty spot is home to just 780 people and has been a Unesco world heritage site since 1997 – but the success of ‘Frozen has seen it’s popularity has exploded.

Since then, up to 10,000 tourists from across Asia have flocked to the lakeside hideaway every day, with up to a million visitors a year.

And Frozen fans will soon want to head to Disneyland Paris, with a brand new expansion based on the adventures of Anna and Elsa opening next year.

Blueprints for the theme park’s Frozen Land reveal how the Arendelle-themed attraction will boast a new ride, as well as shops, restaurants and a meet-and-greet with the beloved characters.
