Inside the tourist attraction named best in the UK – it’s perfect for families

THREE of Scotland’s attractions have made a UK list of the best tourist experiences – including top spot.

Today Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel tips platform, revealed the Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best “Things to Do” Awards across the world.

And it’s great news for those planning to have a staycation this summer, with a host of accolades for Scotland.

Coming in at number one on the UK’s Top Attractions ranking is the Royal Yacht Britannia.

Docked in Leith, in Edinburgh, visitors can board the impressive boat, explore each of the five decks and discover what life was like during Royal service on board Queen Elizabeth II’s former floating palace. There’s lots of great things for the whole family to see and do, including a cuddly corgi treasure hunt and cafe for refreshments.

Coming in at number four on the list is the National Museum of Scotland. Another tourist attraction in the capital, the free attraction is packed with interesting artefacts and activities for the whole family.

Edinburgh Castle took sixth spot in the top 10. Attracting thousands of visitors from across the globe, the imposing building is described as one of the most exciting historic sites in Western Europe.

And taking 10th place is The Real Mary’s Kings Close, also in the capital, where visitors can experience more than 400 years of history, and discover the stories of the character guides, From myths and legends, to the deadly plague epidemic.

Tripadvisor’s experts analysed 12 months of reviews from millions of travellers across the globe to create the definite guide to the very best activities and excursions .
