Insigne a good option for Spurs in January if Vlahovic transfer not possible

0

Dusan Vlahovic is undoubtedly the striker all Tottenham fans want in the January transfer window given his recent goalscoring heroics for Fiorentina.

Linked with a move to N17 in the summer as the club searched for a new frontman due to a lack of numbers in the position, Spurs in the end missed out on a deal for the Serbian, who has continued to shine in Serie A.

Now on 17 goals and two assists from his 18 appearances in all competitions for Viola this season, the 21-year-old is top scorer in Serie A as things stand and many believe it will stay that way come May if he remains at the Artemio Franchi Stadium beyond January.

Heavily linked with Spurs, Arsenal, Man City and Juventus, Vlahovic does look destined to move on from Fiorentina in 2022 as their president Rocco Commisso announced in October that the youngster doesn’t want to extend his current deal in Florence beyond 2023.

It will take big money for Vlahovic to be on the move in January and it may be in the summer instead when he does head elsewhere.

So who could Tottenham potentially target in January if a move for Vlahovic isn’t possible? football.london takes a look.

Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli)

The Italy international is another striker who will be in the headlines next month as he gets set to enter the final six months of his Napoli contract.

Insigne will be allowed to speak to foreign clubs about a deal for the 2022/23 season from January, while a cut-price transfer could also be an option so that Napoli don’t lose him for nothing.

Mainly operating from the left but also capable of playing through the middle, the 30-year-old is someone Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici will know well from their time in Italy.

Insigne, who has plenty of quality and would be a good addition at Spurs, has five goals and six assists from his 18 games for the Naples club this season.

Alexander Isak (Real Sociedad)

One option for Spurs if they want to target a tall, powerful frontman could be Real Sociedad’s Isak.

Standing at 6ft 4in, the Swede is highly rated in the game and looks set to have a very bright future over the coming years.

Admitting in the past that it would be “nice” to play in England, the 22-year-old hasn’t exactly set the world alight this season after only notching six goals in 20 games for his club, but he did show that he knows where the net is last campaign after hitting 17 and then 16 the year before that.

A cheaper alternative to Vlahovic and one for the future, Isak could be a real hit in the Premier League for Tottenham.

Jonathan David (Lille)

David has really caught the eye in 2021/22 after scoring goals for fun for Lille.

Hitting 13 in all competitions last term as they sprung a major surprise to win the Ligue 1 title, the Canada international has already surpassed that total this campaign as he has 14 goals from 25 games.

Likely to be his last season with Lille amid links with teams such as Liverpool, Inter Milan and West Ham, the speedy 21-year-old would cost upwards of £25million but that would probably turn out to be quite the bargain given his form.

Andrea Belotti (Torino)

Belotti’s time at Torino could soon be set to come to an end due to his current contract status.

Out of contract this summer, the Italy international could either depart on the cheap in January or wait until the end of the season and join another club on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old hasn’t been prolific in front of goal this season but he has scored goals regularly for the Turin-based side in the past, hitting 107 goals from 238 games in total.

As is the case with Insigne, he is a striker both Conte and Paratici will know all about.
