Introducing the A List From ‘Allure’

So this month, Allure is honoring the individuals who drive and shape our industry’s forward momentum with a new project: the A List. A is for Allure, yes, but also activism, accessibility, artistry, ambition, and authenticity. In this issue, you will meet a designer-favorite model who gives a voice to her Indigenous communities, a CEO who seeks to wield biotechnology to create never-before-seen formulations, a Twitch influencer who is bringing diversity to gaming, and a hairstylist who provides fresh fades — and dignity — to the unhoused in L.A. You’ll also see the work of today’s most creative minds in hair, nails, and makeup. 

Spearheading the debut A List is poet and activist Amanda Gorman. As Estée Lauder’s first-ever Global Changemaker, she is reshaping the way we view “beauty ambassadors.” When we sat down for an interview in L.A., she said what excited her most about Estée Lauder is that “they were willing to build something from the ground up with me. Typically, [ambassadors] are not writers, and very rarely does a company put millions toward the education of people in underserved communities. That’s what made me say, ‘I think we can really do something good here.'”
