If you know watches, you know Bremont is known for its elegant, sophisticated designs. The Bremont Audley is one of their latest creations, named after their original Boutique in Mayfair. As you might expect from a watch with this name, the Audley digs deep into Bremont’s heritage, fusing old-school watchmaking with a contemporary aesthetic.
The stainless steel case has a brightly-polished finish, and measures 40mm in diameter. This gives it a medium wrist presence, even tending towards medium-small if you have larger wrists. It’s correspondingly slim, with a depth of 12.9mm, and a lug width of just 20mm. The bezel is narrow, but it has a smooth, curved profile that creates an elegant accent without being overly distracting. The case is also water-resistant to 100 meters, so you can shower or swim with it.
The dial is a brilliant silver. It’s mostly glossy, with a matte ring around the circumference. The matte ring is home to a ladder index, with fine black lines every minute. The five-minute positions are marked by small Arabic numerals – 5 at the 5-minute position, 10 at the 10-minute position, and so on.
Inside the ladder index is a set of applied lugs that mark the hour positions. These lugs are silver to match the dial, but their raised profile is enough to make them clearly visible. At 3 o’clock, there’s a small date window instead of a lug, with black Arabic numerals against a white background. At 6 o’clock, there’s a small subdial that shows the current power reserve level. The last portion of the dial is bright red, which lets you know when you’re almost empty.
The hour and minute hands are silver like just about everything else. They’re fat at the base, and angle to a fine point at the tips. The second hand is very fine, but it’s bright blue, which makes it highly visible.
The sapphire crystal is scratch-resistant and ever so slightly domed. It won’t distort the dial, but it’s enough to make a subtle impression. It also has an anti-reflective finish to cut down on glare.
The back of the watch sports a display caseback where you can see the workings of the Bremot 11 ½’’’ ENG365 movement. It’s easy on the eyes as well as reliable, with a 65-hour power reserve.
Bremont also backs the Audley with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty. Owners are fully protected against defects in parts or craftsmanship.
