Actor Ioan Gruffudd, 49, went public with his girlfriend Bianca Wallace, 30, in October 2021 following his very public split from Alice Evans, 49.
Bianca, who is also an actress, has been battling an “aggressive” form of multiple sclerosis since she was just 25.
The “cruel” condition leaves her in “agonising pain” which is making her life “extraordinarily difficult”.
Opening up about her condition in a new article for The Telegraph, Bianca revealed that she gave Ioan a “get-out-of-jail” card before they began their relationship.
“I asked him to spend the next few days seriously considering this and to let me know his decision.
“My heart couldn’t take being let down again and I assured him that there would be no hard feelings.”
Mercifully, Bianca says Ioan “didn’t hesitate for a second” and went on to tell her all of the reasons he was in love with her and that her condition did not change a thing.
According to NHS, MS is a lifelong condition that can cause serious disability.
While there is no cure and average life expectancy is slightly reduced, it is possible to treat symptoms to make living with the condition less challenging.
Bianca previously said that doctors feared she would never walk again following her diagnosis.
She also told her 12.9k Instagram followers that she goes blind in her left eye, her entire right side has nerve damage and she had to learn how to control her emotions.
She is now backing The Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Stop MS appeal to raise £100 million to fund research to improve diagnosis and treatment.
Bianca does not have any children, but Ioan has two daughters, Ella and Elise, with his ex Alice.
The former couple had met on the set of 102 Dalmatians in 2000 and had been married for almost 14 years before announcing their split.
Alice had revealed the breakdown of their marriage in a since-deleted tweet.
She wrote: “Me and our young girls are very confused and sad. We haven’t been given a reason except that he ‘no longer loves me’.”
