MUMBAI: Tim David must be the most popular man in Bangalore at the moment. Cheered on by a packed crowd which included many Mumbai Indians fans and supporters of screaming RCB fans, David blasted a match-winning 11-ball 34, which included four huge sixes and two fours, to pull off a thrilling five-wicket win for MI over the Delhi Capitals. The win sent RCB into the IPL playoffs at Delhi’s expense.

Pant misses crucial review
DC, who needed a win to go through, were left heart-broken and rueing a massive missed opportunity to get Singaporean David off the first ball he faced, when their captain Rishabh Pant refused to review a nick behind the stumps off Shardul Thakur.
In 2018, it was DC who had denied MI a playoff qualification. On Saturday, MI returned the favour. At 95/3 in the 15th over, MI looked to be heading for another defeat before David added 50 for the fourth wicket in just 20 balls with Tilak Varma.
Gave everything tonight together, @mipaltan ????Can’t wait for our DC boys to face-off with your तोड़फोड़ मंडळ next… https://t.co/b2dmvlGmV5

Bumrah stamps authority
Earlier, staging a fightback after being reduced to 55/4 in the ninth over, DC finished at 159/7 as Rovman Powell (43; 34b, 1×4, 6×4) and Pant added 75 in 44 balls for the fifth wicket.
The man who captured the evening, however, was Jasprit Bumrah. The world’s No. 1 T20 bowler stamped his authority with his opening blows, having Mitchell Marsh caught by Rohit at lone slip and then firing a 90mph bouncer at Prithvi Shaw, who gloved the ball while trying to ramp it. Bumrah later castled Powell with a beast of a yorker.
