Ben Stokes has left for England already as hinted by him before the start of the IPL 2023 that he won’t be available for the playoffs if CSK reach it while LSG’s Mark Wood left for England in April for his child’s birth and hasn’t returned ever since.

Stokes, who missed much of the IPL due to a knee injury and was often not considered in the playing 11 as he was unable to bowl, has left the CSK camp and is back to England, confirmed an England and Wales Cricket Board official to Cricbuzz.
The England Test captain earlier said he has prioritised preparations for the Ashes (from June 16) and refrained from bowling in the IPL 2023 due to his knee injury. He is expected to lead the team for a one-off Test against Ireland from June 1. CSK management, however, for long maintained that Stokes will play the entire season.
Stokes, who was bought for Rs 16.25 crore, played only two games this IPL but is likely to go home with a fat paycheck as the latest IPL rules suggest that a player not featuring in playing 11 may see his match fee slashed by 20 per cent on pro-rata basis.
Mark Wood, on the other hand, played just four games in IPL 2023 before leaving for England and earlier missed the entire 2022 season due to an injury after being bought at the mega auction for Rs 7.50 crore.
With four teams going into playoff stages, only CSK’ Moeen Ali and Mumbai Indians’ Chris Jordan remain among England’s representation with the rest of the 13 England players returning home after end of their respective franchise’s run in the IPL 2023.
