Earlier known as Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) stadium, the venue was renamed after Mangalam Chinnaswamy, who was the BCCI President from 1977 to 1980 and had also served KSCA.
The M Chinnaswamy Stadium has served as home venues to Karnataka state teams, the Indian cricket team and since 2008, when Indian Premier League (IPL) started as a home to the Bengaluru-based franchise – Royal Challengers Bangalore.
And for the first time since 2019, RCB will return to their home as BCCI has announced the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as one of the venues along with eleven other stadiums in 11 cities across the country for IPL 2023.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium Pitch Report
Known to be batting friendly in the limited overs format thanks to the flat wickets and the small ground dimension, making it a batter’s paradise and a bowler’s nightmare. But with black soil being used for the wickets recently, the wickets may help the spinners. Going by the record in T20s, the chasing team has had a slight advantage on the wickets at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
