title

IPL
2023:
Jamieson
out
due
to
injury

Jamieson,
who
last
played
an
international
match
in
June
2022,
was
recently
picked
for
the
2-match
home
Test
series
against
England
after
recurrence
of
his
back
stress
fracture.
He
is
now
slated
to
undergo
a
surgery
and
faces
another
extended
period
on
the
sidelines.

The
lanky
New
Zealand
all-rounder
was
roped
in
by
Royal
Challengers
Bangalore
(RCB)
for
Rs
15
crore
–
the
second
most
expensive
buy
in
IPL
2021.
However,
he
failed
to
impress
and
scored
just
65
runs
at
16.25
and
picked
nine
wickets
at
an
economy
rate
of
9.60
in
nine
matches.

He
opted
out
of
the
IPL
2022
mega
auction
to
spend
time
at
home
after
spending
a
considerable
amount
of
time
in
a
bubble
due
to
Covid-19
pandemic.

“Firstly,
after
the
last
12
months,
it’s
had
its
challenges
with
MIQs
(managed
isolation
and
quarantine)
and
bubbles
and
spending
a
fair
amount
of
time
in
that
sort
of
set-up,”
Jamieson
had
told
ESPNcricinfo.

”It
was
important
for
me
when
I
look
at
the
schedule
coming
up
over
the
next
12
months
to
try
and
find
six
weeks
or
eight
weeks
where
I
can
spend
some
time
at
home.

“The
second
thing
for
me
was,
reflecting
over
the
last
12-24
months
and
understanding
that
I’m
very
young
in
my
[international]
career
and
only
two
years
in,
that
I
wanted
to
have
time
to
work
on
my
game.

“I
didn’t
really
feel
like
I
was
where
I
wanted
to
be
and
if
I
want
to
compete
for
spots
in
the
New
Zealand
sides
moving
forward
across
all
three
formats,
I
actually
need
to
spend
time
working
on
my
game
and
not
just
trying
to
play
the
whole
time,”
he
had
added.

The
28-year-old
was
acquired
at
his
base
price
of
Rs
1
crore
in
IPL
2023
auction.
