The bottom team of last year made a stuttering start again but pulled off a stellar last half of the group stage to enter the playoffs. They beat Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator, but faltered against the Titans to make the exit.

It has been mostly a power-packed season for them despite many absentees. Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out for the entire season with a back injury, and MI even suffered a few more injuries during the course of the season.
Few of their youngsters played out of their skin and performed in a valiant manner. Nehal Wadhera, Akash Madhwal were among the best young players for MI, whereas Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green also had a decent season.
Captain Rohit Sharma endured a tough period yet again in IPL, scoring just 332 runs at an average of less than 21. Apart from Sharma, MI have a few more issues to deal and will have to look for incoming next season.
As they prepare for a better bid in IPL 2024, it’s certain a few of their current players will be shown the exit door.
Mumbai Indians: List of players MI may release ahead of IPL 2024
Here is the list of players Mumbai Indians may let go ahead of next season-
Tim David
Australian all-rounder Tim David was signed for INR 8.25 crore last season and was retained for this year. Although he showed brilliance in patches, David has been mostly a miss for them.
The 26-year-old scored 231 runs this season at an average of 25 and a strike rate of 158. But MI would have expected much more of him in crunch situations, which he failed to deliver apart from one match against PBKS.

Hence MI may offload him ahead of the next auction and may try to snap the Australian up again at a cheaper price.
Vishnu Vinod
Kerala wicketkeeper Vishnu Vinod has had a struggle this season. He played just 3 matches and could manage only 37 runs in those.
The 29-year-old may be one of the names MI look to release next season.
Sandeep Warrier
Sandeep Warrier was brought in as a replacement for MI’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The former KKR bowler has failed to make an impression though.
The 32-year-old, who has played 5 IPL matches in his career, didn’t play a single game and was mostly used as an unused impact sub by MI. It looks evident that the five-time IPL champions will offload Warrier before next season.
Jofra Archer
MI’s mammoth investment in Jofra Archer has proven fruitless this far. The England bowler missed the entire last season with an injury, and got injured again midway through this season.
Mumbai Indians got Jofra Archer in the auction for 8 Crores.

Archer played 5 matches for MI and could pick up just 2 wickets, while travelling at an economy of 9.50 in those matches. MI will have to take a decision on the England player and it looks like they would release Archer ahead of IPL 2024.
Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan also had an underwhelming season with MI. He was roped in as a replacement for Riley Meredith, and the 34-year-old could only bag 3 wickets in the six matches that he played. He was also expensive, going at an economy of 10.77 in those matches.
