Titans, despite their runners-up status, had a fantastic season and will be aiming to reach greater heights next season. We have witnessed batting and bowling of the highest order from them and the GT side can be buoyant about their future.
Given IPL 2024 mini auction around seven-odd months away, the GT think tank will already be thinking about next season’s recruitment. There are areas the Titans need to bolster, and all of that will be addressed during the transfer window and auction.
Although most of their players can stay, there are a few names who may see the exit.
Gujarat Titans: List of players GT may release ahead of next year
Check out the names who may well be axed from the squad by Gujarat Titans ahead of next season-
Kane Williamson
The New Zealand player suffered a season-ending injury in the very first match of the season. He was ruled out and is looking likely to miss the ODI World Cup later this year.
With Williamson’s fitness in jeopardy, the Titans are certain to offload the Kiwi and will be aiming to recruit from somewhere else.
Yash Dayal
Yash Dayal endured a tough IPL 2023 season. After being hit for five consecutive sixes by KKR batter Rinku Singh, Dayal’s season took a nosedive.
The UP-born left-arm pacer has picked up just 2 wickets in 5 matches and it will be crucial for him to perform in the domestic matches. Only a renewed vigour and domestic prowess can save Dayal’s status as a Gujarat Titans player.
Odean Smith
The West Indies all-rounder didn’t play a single game and can be offloaded by GT ahead of next season. Smith, who has played for Punjab Kings in IPL, hasn’t had the best of opportunities this year and may have to seek pastures new ahead of IPL 2024.
Pradeep Sangwan
The left-arm pacer didn’t have a single game. The emergence of Mohit Sharma also hindered any opportunity for the Delhi-born bowler, and he looks another who may well get the axe ahead of IPL 2024.
