With a single required off the last ball, the Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer failed to properly execute the run out of Ravi Bishnoi who was way ahead of the non-striker’s crease even before Harshal had rolled his arms completely. Harshal stopped and tried to dismantle the stumps, but missed it by a whisker.
Reacting to the thrilling finish at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday, Morgan said that Harshal must not have pre-planned to attempt a run-out and would have been in shock mid-way through his run-up to see how far Bishnoi has travelled.
“Not for one moment, do I think it was a conscious effort. Harshal Patel was running in and must have been in shock to see how far away he (Bishoi was) and missed the run-out. But if he had run him out, there would have been a pitch invasion. It would have been Kohli-Gambhir gloves on,” Morgan told JioCinema post the match.
“Yeah, I don’t know what he (Bishnoi) was doing. Something in his head should have told him to stay in the crease ‘you know what, he could run me out’. When the bowlers are at the crease, anything can happen,” he added.
Later, LSG number eleven Avesh Khan failed to connect his bat to the final delivery from Harshal but ended up running a bye after RCB wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik fumbled while collecting the ball.
