Virat Kohli gave his side the chance to win the game by scoring a 101*, taking the side to 197/5. However, Shubman Gill’s 104* sealed the game for Gujarat Titans, who now head into the Qualifier 1 to face Chennai Super Kings after topping the points table.
Lucknow Super Giant’s Naveen-Ul-Haq, who has been in a social media battle with the former India captain since the duo had a heated exchange of words during LSG vs RCB match earlier this season, couldn’t help but take to Instagram to celebrate RCB’s defeat as he posted a celebration meme to make his feeling apparent.
RCB’s loss meant LSG will now face five-time champions Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 Eliminator as the sides occupied third and fourth spots on the points table respectively. Fans around the country, however, hoped that it would have been LSG vs RCB in the eliminator instead.
Gautam Gambhir was involved in that much-publicised spat with Virat Kohli too after the former Indian captain’s pointing at shoe remark didn’t go down well with the LSG mentor and former Indian opener.
Naveen-Ul-Haq, on the other hand, is fast becoming a controversial figure in the IPL as he was also seen making a finger-on-the-lips gesture to the Eden Gardens crowd during LSG’s recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders, who lost to the side and went out of the playoff race.
As far as Sunday’s game is concerned, Virat Kohli scored his seventh IPL century, surpassing Chris Gayle’s tally of most centuries in the franchise tournament while this was Kohli second on the trot.
