As far as the fastest half-century of the season is concerned, Nicholas Pooran surpassed Chennai Super Kings’ Ajinkya Rahane, who took Mumbai Indians bowlers to the cleaners with a fifty in just 19 balls. The 27-year-old LSG batter, however, on Monday was in a class of his own against RCB bowlers.
Nicholas Pooran, who eventually scored an 18-ball 62, single-handedly kept his side in a big chase of 213 runs. The wicketkeeper-batter helped the side recover from 99/4 (10.4 overs) to bring down the equation to 24 runs needed off 18 balls as Mohammad Siraj dismissed him at the end of the 17th over.
The fastest fifty in IPL history belongs to KL Rahul and Pat Cummins with the former achieving the feat for his former side Kings XI Punjab back in 2018. Cummins did so for Kolkata Knight Riders against Mumbai Indians last year in Pune.
