Rohit Sharma`s barren run with willow continued as Chennai Super Kings broke a 13-year-old home jinx against Mumbai Indians with an easy six-wicket victory on Saturday. Team India skipper`s horrid run in IPL since the last edition continued as he failed to trouble the scorer for the second match in succession with Mumbai scoring a below-par 139 for 8 against an inspired performance from the CSK pace and seam troika of Deepak Chahar (2/18 in 4 overs), Man of the match Matheesha Pathirana (3/15 in 4 overs) and Tushar Deshpande (2/25 in 4 overs).
The chase was nothing less than a walk in the park as Devon Conway (44 off 42 balls) played the role of anchor to perfection after Ruturaj Gaikwad`s whirlwind 16-ball-30. The win was completed in 17.5 overs and CSK leapfrogged to second place behind Gujarat Titans in the points table.

Updated Orange Cap & Purple Cap standings
Faf du Plessis continues to top the Orange Cap race with 466 runs from nine innings so far. CSK`s Devon Conway anchored the innings with a composed knock at the top of the order. The opening batter scored 44 runs off 42 deliveries and is only eight runs behind Faf du Plessis in the Orange Cap list.
Tushar Deshpande regained the lead in the Orange Cap race after a brilliant spell against Mumbai. The right-arm pacer dismissed Cameron Green and Tim David to finish with figures of 2/26. He overtook Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan and now has 19 wickets in 11 matches.
The 52-day tournament has expectedly brought back all the intensity, rivalries, and buzz among cricket fans from across the globe. With some of the biggest names on the roster, this year’s IPL will draw even more attention as it will be played on a home-and-away basis in India. The previous three IPL seasons suffered massive setbacks amid rising Covid-19 cases, with two seasons held in UAE and the last being restricted to Mumbai. Not only the sponsors incurred a huge loss amid restrictions due to the pandemic, but fans were also barred from attending matches. However, this time around, the excitement appears to be through the roof for both fans and sponsors as there will be no such limitations.
Without much ado, let`s dwell on what the IPL 2023 Points Table looks like after CSK beat MI by 6 wickets.
