The 34-year-old grabbed his third Man of the Match award of the season after scoring 26 off 16 and then picking a wicket for 19 runs in four overs against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Chepauk in Chennai on Wednesday.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Jadeja said people are disappointed watching him come out to bat ahead of Dhoni. He added that the fans would wish him to get out if he comes higher up the order.
“When I bat at 7, the crowd is disappointed and chats for Mahi bhai. Imagine if I bat higher; they will just wait for me to get out,” Jadeja said after CSK’s 27-run win over Delhi.
Everyone took the comments from the star all-rounder on a lighter note until he liked a tweet claiming that there was a “lot of pain” behind his smile, further claiming that people are criticising him despite his stellar run in the ongoing season.
“Jaddu saying this with a smile but lot of pain inside… Belive me it’s a trauma ! Imagine your own team spectators not supporting you waiting for your wicket! Still criticizing you even after winning 3 man of the matches ! Jadeja you are a Prince of CSK,” the fan tweeted.

The same has given birth to new speculations. Notably, there was a lot of uncertainty regarding Jadeja’s future at the CSK following the IPL 2022 season in which Jadeja led the four-time champions in the initial matches.
However, a series of defeats and dip in Jadeja’s personal performance saw Dhoni taking over the captaincy again. It was reported that Jadeja was also unhappy with Dhoni’s spoon-feeding comment.
“So it was a gradual transition where I said okay this is what I will do. I will take care of the fielding angles and everything for the first couple of games. After that if it comes to me ‘No, you will have to do it yourself because that’s the only way you will learn what captainship is’. Spoon-feeding doesn’t really help the captain, on the field you have to take those crucial decisions and you have to take responsibility for those decisions,” Dhoni had said after resuming as CSK captain.
“Once you become the captain, you have to take care of a lot many things and that also includes taking care of your own game. What I felt was, it was having an effect on his game also. When he was going into bat or when it comes to his preparation, is putting this burden affecting his game?” he had added.
Jadeja later left the CSK camp as the side said that he went back home due to a rib injury. Later, Jadeja had also deleted all his posts related to CSK. The franchise also unfollowed him on Instagram.
But all the speculations were brought to an end after Jadeja was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. “Everything is fine #RESTART,” Jadeja had written alongside a picture of him bowing to Dhoni to bring end to all the speculations.
