On the fifth ball of the seventh, Jadeja bowled a fullish delivery on the leg-stump. Not expecting a lot of turn, Stoinis attempted a straight drive but the delivery spun viciously to clean the off stump. A rattled Stoinis could not believe what happened and his utterly perplexed reaction said it all.
The likes of Sunil Gavaskar, S Sreesanth and Danny Morrison have doffed their hat to Jadeja by declaring the delivery as the ‘ball of the tournament’.
Jadeja bowled a total of three overs for 11 runs and one wicket. On another spin-friendly wicket, LSG were five down for 44 runs in 9.4 overs. However, a brilliant fifty from Ayush Badoni resurrected the Lucknow innings and a six from the southpaw on the final ball of the 19th over, took LSG past 120.
In the previous match at the venue, Lucknow were bundled out for 108 while chasing a 127-run target against Royal Challengers Bangalore. On Wednesday, CSK won the match and opted to bowl first.
Spinners Maheesh Theekshana and Moeen Ali picked two wickets each for the four-time champions. Pacer Matheesha Pathirana also chipped in with two wickets.
