Shreyas Iyer will be missing the IPL as he is set to undergo back surgery. The Indian batter, who also is the captain of KKR, has been ruled out for the entirety of the season. And KKR have reportedly spotted Sudip Gharami as a replacement for Iyer.
Who is Sudip Gharami
Sudip Gharami is a batter from Bengal. The young batter has come through the youth ranks in domestic cricket and plays for Bengal senior team. This year, he had a stellar Ranji season and was called on Thursday for trials ahead of KKR’s match against RCB at the Eden Gardens.
Sudip Gharami Rise and Struggle
Sudip was born on 21st March, 1999 in Naihati, a place in the North 24 Paraganas district of Bengal. The youngster was born in an economically lower-middle-class family and had a huge struggle during his budding days. His father used to work as a mason but never discouraged his son in his pursuit of cricket.
He was spotted by Sourav Ganguly during a U-23 match between Bengal and Mumbai, where the batter scored 66 runs on a difficult deck. Gharami also made his Ranji debut in that same season, and his domestic career started in the same fashion as Sourav Ganguly, as they both made their Bengal debut in a Ranji final.
