NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal surpassed former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga to become the second highest wicket-taker in the history of the Indian Premier League.
Playing his 133rd IPL match, Chahal got to the landmark when he dismissed Punjab Kings batter Jitesh Sharma to take his 171st wicket during the IPL 2023 match on Wednesday. Malinga took 170 wickets from 122 matches.

The last season’s Purple Cap holder Chahal, however had a forgettable outing against Punjab as he leaked 50 runs in his four overs with a lone wicket.

Former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Dwayne Bravo sits atop the list with 183 wickets from 161 matches. With 166 wickets, Amit Mishra occupies the fourth spot followed by Ravichandran Ashwin (158 wickets).

On the match front, Shikhar Dhawan smashed an unbeaten 86 off 56 balls while young Prabhsimran Singh carted the Rajasthan Royals bowling attack to score 60 off 34 balls as Punjab Kings managed a commendable 197 for 4.
For Royals, Jason Holder was the most successful bowler with figures of 2/29 in four overs.
