Harry Potter fans, we’ve heard a very exciting reunion rumour that we know you’ll want to hear about.
The magical line-up of Harry, Hermione et. al could be coming back together for a very exciting one-off reunion special, to mark twenty years since November 2001, when Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone first hit our screens – the first of many film adaptations of JK Rowling’s hit children’s book series.
The news has been confirmed by The Sun, a source told the publication that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson & Rupert Grint – who played the main characters of Harry, Hermione and Ron in the film franchise – have been issued invitations to reunite for a special, one-off reunion show.
“The proposed show is being shrouded in secrecy as franchise bosses want to get talent locked in first,” according to the source. “It would be amazing if they pull it off and they have offered big money to the cast to reunite.”
What will be the plot of the Harry Potter reunion?
While nothing has been confirmed yet, it’s likely the organisers might choose to take inspiration from the format of the Friends reunion, which became Sky One’s most watched show of all time when it aired last June.
The six cast members reunited in front of a live audience on the show’s original soundstage Stage 24, in the Hollywood Warner Bros Studio.
They appeared together with a whole host of special guests – marking the first time they had been on screen together since the 17 years since the much-loved comedy programme finished.
Who will be cast in the Harry Potter reunion?
Let’s face it – the prospect of this show happening is likely to hinge on its main man, and that’s Harry Potter himself a.k.a. Daniel Radcliffe.
We (and the rest of the universe) would also be prettttty keen to see mega-star Emma Watson take a look back at her role of Hermione. And, to complete the trio, we’d expect to see Ron (Rupert Grint), join the gang.
If organisers are trying to recreate something like the Friends reunion, which saw all six cast members reunite in a one-off HBO show, then they will be keen to rope in as many of the key actors from the films, for full nostalgia factor. This could include what creator J.K. Rowling referred to as the “Big Seven” younger cast members which includes, together with the aforementioned three, Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy; Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood); Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley); and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom).
So do we think they will be persuaded?
“Many of the actors have moved on, but the movies launched them to superstardom,” according to The Sun‘s source – however organisers are feeling “hopeful it will happen” – and they will be able to get some of the now-extremely-famous stars on board – because many of the former cast members still harbour “fond memories” of filming back in the day.
