Could Ozzy Osbourne be headed for Las Vegas?
A Sin City residency seems like a possibility after the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has finally cancelled his long-postponed European and U.K. date due to health reasons.
“This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans. As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine,” Osbourne said in a statement, which also underscored the amount of operations, physical therapy sessions and other treatments he’s gone through following injury.
“I am honestly humbled by the way you’ve all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time, but in all good conscience, I have now come to the realization that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required,” he added. “Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really (expletive) me up more than you will ever know.”
The announcement seemingly signals the end of touring for Osbourne — who says that his “singing voice is fine” but his “body is still physically weak” — but also opens the door to other performance settings.
“Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way,” Osbourne said. “My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.”
A casino residency would seemingly check all those boxes as well as give metal fans an excellent reason to head to Nevada.
In a 2020 interview with Classic Rock magazine, Osbourne addressed the idea of a Sin City residency.
“Do you know what the thing is now?” he said in the interview. “Everyone does this thing in Las Vegas. If I ever have to do that, that will be interesting, because I don’t like doing more than one night at one place.”
Yet, maybe he’s changed his mind performing multiple nights in one place and will contemplate the idea of crooning through “Shot in the Dark,” “Bark at the Moon” and, of course, all those Black Sabbath beauties during a lengthy Las Vegas residency in the near future.
