The dramatic 4-3 win over Tottenham on Sunday, however, did keep Jurgen Klopp’s men firmly in the hunt for a Europa League consolation prize ahead of Fulham making the trip to Anfield this evening.
The away side have enjoyed a strong return to the Premier League this season, although Marco Silva’s quest to achieve European football for themselves next season has fallen away over the past few weeks.
Here is everything you need to know about tonight’s game, including if the match will be shown live on TV in the UK.
What time does the game kick-off?
Liverpool vs Fulham will kick-off tonight (Wednesday, May 3) at 8pm.
Is Liverpool vs Fulham on TV?
This evening’s game at Anfield will not be shown live on TV anywhere in the UK.
The game is a rearranged fixture from earlier in the season, which was due to take place at 3pm on Saturday, March 18.
However, it was postponed due to Fulham’s participation in the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United.
And given the match was originally not selected for live TV coverage by either Sky Sports or BT Sport, the fixture cannot now be reselected for broadcast.
Will the game be on radio?
Live radio coverage of Liverpool vs Fulham will take place on talkSPORT 2, with coverage getting underway from 7pm.
What is the team news?
Diogo Jota, who was perhaps fortunate not to be sent off before scoring the winner against Spurs, is a doubt after picking up a knock and a separate rib injury during the game.
The 26 year-old has not trained all week and Klopp could instead take the opportunity to rotate his forward line with the inclusion of Darwin Nunez.
Klopp said: ‘Diogo struggles, he got a knock in the back against West Ham and a bruised rib.
‘He couldn’t train before the game but could play without an injection, but he got another knock when he came on. He hasn’t trained since then so that one is a doubt, at least, but I hope he can recover.’
Roberto Firmino has returned to training after recovering from the muscle complaint he picked up last month, although tonight’s game will come too soon, while Thiago will miss Liverpool’s remaining games after requiring surgery on a hip problem.
As for Fulham, Andreas Pereira and Tim Ream are set to miss the rest of the season with respective ankle and arm injuries, whilst Willian could return from the hamstring injury that has forced him to sit out the previous two fixtures.
Aleksandar Mitrovic continues the suspension dished out to him for shoving referee Chris Kavanagh during Fulham’s FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford.
What happened in the reverse fixture?
The two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage on the opening day of the season.
Fulham had twice led on the banks of the Thames courtesy of goals either side of half-time from Mitrovic.
However, strikes from Nunez and Mohamed Salah saw the Reds head back to Merseyside with a point.
