The report further stated that Mohun Bagan will pay an additional Rs 1.5 crore in the move for Sahal Abdul Samad as the deal was valued at around Rs 3.5-4 crore. Defender Pritam Kotal has agreed to a Rs 2 crore-per-year deal with Kerala Blasters. An official update is awaited by both clubs; making him the highest-paid Indian footballer at the club.
It was reported that this was the biggest deal as far as the value is concerned as left-back Akash Mishra earlier joined Mumbai City FC for Rs 2.5 crore from Hyderabad FC. A source told News9 that Mohun Bagan bought Sahal because of his understanding with another midfielder Anirudh Thapa in the middle of the pitch when both play for the national colours.
Kerala Blasters were also after Pritam Kotal for a while now as they approached Mohun Bagan for the fullback last January.
26-year-old Sahal, who played a key role in India’s recent triumphs of the Intercontinental Cup and SAFF Championship, has also signed a three-year contract and is entitled to an annual wage of Rs 2.5 crore at his new club. The deal also includes an option to further extend the contract by two years if both club and players agree on it.
As per the report, Sahal, who is tying the knot with badminton player Reza Farhath on Tuesday, has already signed the agreement with the club couple of days ago while 29-year-old Kotal signed the new deal with Kerala Blasters last Wednesday.
Kerala Blasters have been losing away key players in the ongoing ISL transfer season as the club was imposed with a hefty fine of Rs 4 crore by the All India Football Federation after the team walked out of an ISL match last season.
