Talking about the slump in his form with the tournament reaching a crucial stage, the England batter said during a pre-match press conference on Thursday, “Yes, it is a crucial time in the tournament and that’s very exciting. This is the best way to look at it. Whether runs are coming or not, it is important for me to stick to what I know and believe in, and play my brand of cricket. I started the tournament doing that pretty well, but haven’t scored as many runs as I would have liked to score off late. But it is important for me to stay true to myself.”
Talking about the young talent in the side, Buttler labelled Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal as ‘brilliant’.
“Dhruv is having a fantastic season and he was there with us even last year. His performance has been fantastic and his mindset is brilliant. He plays without fear and batting at No. 5, 6 and 7 is a tricky role in T20 cricket, but he is executing himself pretty well,” Buttler said.
While talking about Jaiswal, the England’s limited-overs captain said that he ‘occasionally’ gives tips to him. “I share a nice relationship with Yasasvi and he has an insatiable appetite to learn. And it is not always that young guys learn from the older ones. Even the older guys can watch the youngsters and learn from them.It is a two-way relationship. The shots he possesses are fantastic and plays with intensity. If he continues to do well, it will serve him well,” he added.
