ITC holds awareness campaign on tires safety

ABU DHABI, 14th July, 2022 (WAM) — The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the “Road Safety UAE” platform and Al Masaood Group in Abu Dhabi, has organised an awareness campaign on tires safety. This step aims at raising awareness among drivers of heavy vehicles on the importance of road safety and maintaining the well-being of all passengers on the roads of Abu Dhabi. The awareness campaign targets truck drivers in the Heavy Vehicle Control Station in Mussafah area.

The campaign’s objective is to inform drivers of said vehicles on the importance of ensuring the good shape of tires and their conformity with the specifications and safety standards stipulated by the ITC, especially since the risk of tire blowouts increases during the summer months as a result of the rising temperature levels. The campaign also aims at raising drivers’ awareness on the importance of conducting periodic checks of their vehicles to ensure they are equipped with all the necessary safety elements that prevent road accidents and in turn increases trucks’ competencies in traffic safety.

The awareness campaign is part of a joint effort between the ITC and its strategic stakeholders in the private sector seeking to achieve the highest safety standards on the roads of Abu Dhabi.
