ITV ‘takes a break’ from huge talent show after six years

The Voice Kids has had a successful six years and has seen a lot of talent come out of the show, but the ITV search will soon be coming to an end.

Judges Danny Jones, Pixie Lott, Ronan Keating and Will.i.am have been staple parts of the show but it will not return next year.

A source told The Sun: “The show had a good run and had its own fanbase, but execs are keen to free up scheduling space for other new programming to keep ideas as fresh as possible.

“The cast have great memories from the series but have plenty of other projects to keep them busy. ”

ITV confirmed that the series would not be returning in 2024, with a spokesman explaining: “The Voice Kids is taking a break in 2024.

“We’re working with Lifted Entertainment on The Voice UK for 2024 and development of The Voice-branded specials.”

Last month, Will.i.am and Ronan spoke highly of the young contestants that come through their door and described them as being streets ahead of grown-up singers.

Danny agreed and added: “They are just getting better and better. The way they learn and take on information is just incredible.

“They go away, work on it and come back, and I’m like ‘I’ve got nothing to say — that’s amazing.”

Danny has experience in shooting to fame at a young age as he and the band McFly saw their success at the age of 17.

Pixie is also a young star as she signed her first record deal at 16 and has been a big hit in the charts since.

The latest series was won by identical twins Shanice and Andrea Nyandoro who impressed the judges with their rendition of Faith by Stevie Wonder in their first audition.

The duo were crowned the 2023 winners earlier this month during the grand finale.

Despite the spin-off series being paused, the adult addition, The Voice UK, which also features Will.i.am on the judging panel alongside Olly Murs, Sir Tom Jones and Anne-Marie, will continue.

The Voice Kids series 6-7 are available to watch on ITVX.
