J.J. Redick joined ESPN in 2021, and in just a few short years he has become one of the network’s rising stars. Redick makes regular appearances on several ESPN shows including NBA Today and First Take.
In addition to his studio work, Redick is also a color analyst during games.
Following the network’s surprising decision to let Jeff Van Gundy go, Redick’s profile at the network may be on the verge of rising even more.

According to Front Office Sports, Redick has emerged as a contender to replace Van Gundy on ESPN and ABC’s top NBA announce team.
Redick would assume the same role that Van Gundy held for several years, working with Mike Breen and Mark Jackson on high profile games like the Saturday primetime window and the NBA Finals.
Other names in contention to replace Van Gundy include Richard Jefferson, Doris Burke and former head coach Doc Rivers.
If Burke replaces Van Gundy, she could make history by becoming the first woman to call the NBA Finals on television.
Rivers has experience calling the NBA Finals, as he worked on the 2004 series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons with Al Michaels for ABC.
Redick has become popular with NBA fans for his appearances on First Take as well as his podcast. If he replaces Van Gundy, it could represent a changing of the guard at ESPN.
