Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant was recently suspended for 25 games to start the upcoming season.
A large percentage of the season behind the length of Morant’s suspension is the video that surfaced in May where Morant appears to be in possession of a gun.
Some in Morant’s camp revealed that the gun was a toy, and a new video with Ja holding the alleged weapon has surfaced.

Morant can be seen lighting candles with the “gun,” showing that it was relatively harmless and just a novelty lighter.
Despite the claims from the NBPA, who say the suspension handed down to Morant was egregious and too significant, commoner Adam Silver didn’t want to wait.
Silver announced that Morant’s suspension would come after the NBA Finals, and he made good on that promise.
Morant will miss the first 25 games of Memphis’ season without pay, a move that would take him out of the running for both the MVP award and the All-NBA teams, since players must now play at least 65 regular season game to qualify.
The Grizzlies have played well without Morant since he’s been in the league. The team is 37-24 without him since his rookie season, and Tyus Jones is one of the best backup guards in the NBA.
Morant may not be able to reduce his suspension, but with many saying the punishment was not severe enough, he appears to be fairly lucky.
