Jack Grealish calls Man City star a ‘disgrace’ after FA Cup win over Man Utd

Grealish and Stones helped City edge towards an incredible treble of honours. After winning the Premier League last weekend, City defeated United to win the FA Cup in a tense all-Manchester affair on Saturday afternoon. They can win the Champions League next weekend.

The pair were interviewed by the BBC after the game, with Grealish revealing he had called Stones a ‘disgrace’ in the aftermath of the final whistle. When he noticed the confused look on the faces of the pundits, he clarified his remarks to insist that he was complimenting the defender.

Grealish said Stones had also been bewildered by his analysis: “I was just saying to John over there, ‘You was a disgrace today’, and he’s looked at me [strangely]. I think he thought I was saying he was bad. But no, he was unbelievable!”

Lineker had looked stunned when Grealish admitted he had called Stones a ‘disgrace’, and later quipped: “That’s the thing with you youngsters nowadays, we never know what language you’re using! ‘Sick’ means ‘really good’ and stuff like that!”

BBC pundit Richards chimed in with: “Sauce!”

Lineker pointed at Grealish and added: “He had plenty of sauce!”

Grealish and Stones shone in City’s 2-1 win over United, which was sealed thanks to an Ilkay Gundogan brace. The German struck a stunning volley after just 13 seconds, and in the process scored the FA Cup final’s fastest-ever goal. He scored again in the second-half.

However, Grealish was rather harshly adjudged to have handled the ball in the first half, with referee Paul Tierney pointing to the spot after the 27-year-old blocked Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross with his hand. Replays showed that Wan-Bissaka’s header across goal flicked the hand of Grealish.

Bruno Fernandes scored the resulting spot-kick, but Grealish was aggrieved over the award of the penalty. He said:

“I obviously give away the penalty. I know you’re probably going to get onto it but I don’t know how it’s a penalty.

“I’m not even looking at the ball. I’ve missed the ball with my head and then he’s headed it. I’m not even looking at the ball.

“I can understand if I’m trying to block a cross and I’m looking at the ball. But anyway, Gundo saved me!”
