HARARE magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa has postponed judgement in a case jailed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) lawmaker Job Sikhala is accused of disturbing investigations into the murder of the opposition activist, Moreblessing Ali.
Gofa said she needs time to go through closing submissions which were submitted this morning.
Judgement will now be handed down on May 3.
“I only received the accused’s closing submissions this morning and I have not had time to go through them. This matter will thus be postponed to May 3 for ruling, ” said the magistrate.
Sikhala is accused of interfering with Ali’s murder investigations after allegedly calling for justice over her killing.
He was arrested on June 14 last year and has been in pretrial detention since then.
All his efforts to secure bail were blocked by the courts which ruled he was likely to reoffend.
He is also charged with inciting public violence, a charge emanating from same circumstances.
Trial in this case is ongoing.
The Zengeza West MP is also on trial for a case he is accused of inciting public violence in 2020 after he allegedly called for nationwide anti-government protests.
Sikhala is represented by lawyers Advocate Harrison and Obey Shava while Oscar Madhume is Prosecuting.
