UFC 279 witnessed an incredible submission effort by Jailton Almeida over Anton Turkalj.
UFC 279 saw one of the best up-and-coming submission artists going in Jailton Almeida. The 31-year-old is now 17-2 with 11 career submission wins to his name and if you had any doubt that he earned each and every one of those subs, Almeida dispelled that tonight by dominating Anton Turkalj from the start.
The young Swede didn’t stand a chance once it went to the ground and after a few minutes of posturing, Almeida was able to slug his way into a proper position and took Turkalj’s back for the win.
Won’t be the last we see of Anton Turkalj in the UFC
Credit where it’s due to Turkalj, he took the fight with Almeida on very short notice, with seems to be the theme for UFC 279. While he took his first loss against Almeida, it’s unlikely we’ve seen the last of him in the UFC going forward.
