Jake Paul confirms Tommy Fury has pulled out of December fight

Jake Paul has admitted that there are a number in unanswered questions around his ability as he prepares to face Tyron Woodley for a second time.

Paul and Woodley fought to a split decision in their meeting last time out, with one judge giving Woodley the edge, while two went for Paul.

And the YouTube star has insisted that he will answer the questions that are still awaiting an answer by leaving no doubt and stopping former UFC welterweight champion Woodley next week.

He had been preparing to face the much bigger 7-0 boxer Tommy Fury on December 18, but the Brit was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury to his ribs.

“First and foremost, I think Tyron is a tougher fight than Tommy,” Paul said in an interview with FightHype.

“He has way more experience, he’s a tougher guy in general and is actually a better boxer in my opinion than Tommy.

“There’s unanswered questions because of the split decision last time – yes I won the fight – but I didn’t knock him out.

“That for me is the motivation going into this, to show how much better I’ve gotten since that moment and since the last fight.

“I’m going to go in there and put on a better performance and a better show.

“A lot of people wanted to see this rematch, he got the tattoo and let’s leave it all on the line.”

Woodley and Paul shared an intense rivalry heading into their August fight, and due to the controversy of the split decision, there was never a definitive end to the feud.

Paul said that he would grant Woodley a rematch if he got a tattoo declaring his love for the YouTuber, but despite Woodley getting inked, he opted instead to face Fury.

But Fury was forced to pull out of the event on just two weeks’ notice when he suffered three broken ribs after battling with a severe chest infection.

And Paul believes that he has taken on a tougher task by accepting a fight with Woodley instead, given that the ex-UFC champion hurt him in their last fight.

He has also inserted a $500,000 knockout clause in Woodley’s contract, where his rival will receive a further payout should he manage to stop Paul for the first time in his career.

It remains to be seen if Paul will reschedule his bout with Fury after fighting Woodley, saying that he feels the Brit was unreliable throughout the build-up to their doomed bout.

Fury’s pulling out of the fight came after he skipped their initial press conferences in Las Vegas and Florida last month, and Paul believes he will struggle to trust the Fury family again if they do reschedule.

Paul is a co-promoter of the event under his banner Most Valuable Promotions, working alongside Showtime Boxing in the United States.
