Jake Paul brutally KOs Tyron Woodley in grudge rematch

Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley met for the second time in four months after the former UFC champion replaced Tommy Fury at two weeks’ notice

Jake Paul stopped Tyron Woodley with a stunning one-punch knockout in the sixth round of their rematch.

The sequel to their August meeting was idling towards a points decision after a less-than-entertaining five rounds.

But Paul pulled a KO from thin air as he delivered a stunning right hand which left Woodley face down on the canvas.

The referee immediately waved the fight off as Paul celebrated and Woodley was treated by the medical staff.

“This is as real as it f***ing gets, just like my right hand,” said Paul. “I told you I was going to f*** him up and I f**ed him up.

“This guy is a legend, don’t take anything away from his career as a UFC champion and respect him for taking the fight on two weeks’ notice.

“He’s warrior, that was a tough fight right there, he’s a legend.”

Paul and Woodley were meeting for the second time in four months after Tommy Fury was forced to pull out of his own fight with the social media star.

Woodley accepted the revenge mission at two weeks’ notice and insisted he would adopt a more aggressive gameplan having been accused of being gun-shy in August.

But after walking to the ring in a pair of shorts worth $1.2million, Paul was greeted by a chant of “F*** Jake Paul ” as the fight began.

Woodley was immediately more active in the opening round as Paul looked to work his way into the bout with his jab.

Both men were eager to clinch which drew the ire of the capacity crowd during an uneventful opener.

Paul landed the first meaningful shot of the fight in the second round when a right hand briefly staggered his challenger.

Paul was beginning to assert his authority and landed a one-two at the start of the third session before a clash of heads opened a cut on Paul’s forehead.

Woodley then landed his own right hand as he finally put the younger man under pressure to sneak the round.

Paul’s cut was still bleeding in the fourth before he was wrestled to the canvas by Woodley who was subsequently warned by the referee.

Neither man appeared willing to grab the fight by the scruff of the neck as the fans continued to make their feelings known.

Paul was at least more aggressive at the start of the fifth round as he looked to target the body while Woodley remained happy to hold.

The referee was continually forced to break the fighters up and forcibly reminded them they were there to fight.

The rematch was there for the taking with nine minutes remaining but neither man seemed willing to engage.

But then Paul knocked Woodley face down on the canvas to settle their rivalry once and for all.

On the undercard, former NBA star Deron Williams out-pointed former NFL running back Frank Gore over four entertaining rounds.

Williams was the more effective of the debutants, particularly over. the opening two rounds before both men tired.

Gore was given the nod by one judge but that official was over-ruled by the other two.

“I probably looked terrible out there, I felt my last five sparring sessions were on point,” said Williams. “But once you get in there and you get touched your training goes out the window.

“I’m glad I did this but like I said before, I’m one and done.”

World champion Amanda Serrano secured a mega-fight with Katie Taylor next year by out-pointing Miriam Gutierrez in the co-main event.

Serrano started like a train and rained down on Gutierrez who cowered in the corner before escaping her tormentor.

But the Spaniard showed heart to improve through the fight and to hear the final bell after 10 rounds before all three judges gave Serrano the nod by wide margins.

Earlier, Chris Avilla avenged his MMA defeat by Anthony Taylor by winning their boxing fight by majority decision. One judge scored the bout a draw but the other two gave Avilla the nod.

Liam Paro, meanwhile, remains unbeaten after climbing off the canvas to out-point Yomar Alamo over 10 rounds at super-lightweight.
