The long-running feud between the pair was due to come to a climax in Tampa, Florida on December 18, but Fury has been forced to withdraw from the fight because of a bacterial infection and broken rib, the former Love Island star has said.
Former UFC welterweight champions Tyron Woodley has stepped up to fight the 24-year-old, in what will be the second bout between the pair after Paul earned a win via split decision in their first fight back in August.
Speaking on Twitter, Paul hit out at Fury’s decision to pull out, while thanking Woodley for being available at such short notice.
‘It is official, Tommy Fury is boxing’s biggest b****, he has pulled out of the fight, the Fury’s have pulled out of the fight due to a medical condition,’ he said.
‘Who know’s what the f*** is going on in that camp, I think he has a bad case of persitis. I couldn’t believe the news at first, it still doesn’t seem real.
‘He fumbled the biggest bag of his life, now he’ll be at home paying me $60 instead of getting paid millions of dollars to fight me.
‘I’ve fought with a broken nose, I’ve fought sick. Get the f*** over it, this is boxing. It’s official he was scared, I think the pressure got to him, I think the s*** talk got to him, that’s the bad news guys.
‘The good news is that Mr Tyron Woodley, we called him up and asked him if he wanted to take the fight, he has been training, he said ‘sure I’ll take the fight.’
‘I’m giving him $500,000 extra if he can knock me out, Jake Paul vs Tryon Woodley two, leave no doubt I didn’t knock him out the first time, the crazy win, the crazy highlight knockout. The show must go on.’
Meanwhile, Fury has spoken out about his disappointment at having to withdraw, adding that he hopes to reschedule the fight for next year.
‘I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial infection and broken rib,’ he said in a statement via promoter Frank Warren.
‘The beginning of my camp was going so incredibly and I never expected anything to come in my way from a victory on December 18.
‘I can’t express how disappointed I am and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year.
‘I want this fight to happen more than anything. I’m now regretfully putting my focus on recovery and a further reschedule date.’
