Jake Paul has denied his rematch with Tyron Woodley slumped at the box office – but admits sales struggled.

Paul had been due to take on Tommy Fury in Florida two weeks ago before the Brit pulled out injured.

Woodley stepped in at short notice for a repeat of his fight with Paul in August which the YouTube star won on points.

In the sequel, Paul recorded a stunning KO in the sixth round to put his rivalry with Woodley to bed.

But reports this week claimed only 65,000 people bought the fight on pay-per-view in the United States, although that figure did not take into account paid-for digital streams.

Paul has angrily refuted those claims, however, and attempted to play down the drop in sales from his first meeting with Woodley..

“The PPV number rumours are bullshit,” he wrote on Twitter. “First fight with Woodley we sold 500k+. Numbers for this one are still rolling in but still looking positive.

“Not my best business night but remember… everyone wanted to see me against Fury and that’s what we sold..

“Shoutout to Showtime for riding with me and all the fighters on the card and Tyron for not being a b**** like most of these ‘fighters’ are.”

Paul has yet to commit to a sixth professional fight having taken to the ring three times in 2021.

He knocked out former UFC star Ben Askren in April before his double-header with Woodley.

Mirror Fighting understands Paul will take a seven-month break to focus on promoting Amanda Serrano’s fight with Katie Taylor.

That bout, which would be the biggest in the history of women’s boxing, is expected to take place in New York in March.

Paul could wait until the summer to resume his career with Fury and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr among his potential opponents.
