Floyd Mayweather boasts of earning $100m for “fake fight”

Jake Paul has fears that “broke” Floyd Mayweather will never pay his brother Logan’s fight purse after their exhibition fight.

The YouTube stars have made a significant name for themselves in boxing with Logan having shared the ring with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition last June. Paul was expected to have earned around $15 million from the lucrative showcase, but has since alleged that he has not yet been paid the full amount by Mayweather.

Rising star Jake has claimed his brother may never receive the money with other people allegedly in-line to collect earnings from Mayweather. “Not, not yet,” Paul replied to FightHubTV when asked if his brother Logan had received his fight purse. “Floyd Mayweather is broke. That’s what a lot of people don’t realise. He gets these big cheques and doesn’t pay taxes on them.

“Then the IRS comes hunting him down later. He owes a lot of people I know money. Logan is deep down on that list. So, I don’t know if Logan will ever get paid. It’s kind of f***** up!”

Logan has claimed that Mayweather has yet to pay him his full amount and branded his former ring rival a “rat”. He later doubled down on the claims and threatened to sue Mayweather if he does not receive his money. However Mayweather has since issued a response claiming that there is a “wait” on payments for a fight and he is still yet to receive many from his fighting career.

“This comes with the territory,” Mayweather told the The Pivot Podcast . “To them, that’s real money, and I like the YouTubers. The money on the back end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while. Nothing comes right away.

“I’m still collecting cheques from fights seven or eight years ago. They just hate when the table is turned. Be happy with the biggest payday you ever got in your life.”

Mayweather is expected to have earned around $65 million from the meeting after the event sold one million pay-per-views globally. The boxing legend’s own uncle Jeff has now even moved to tell his nephew to pay the full purse to Paul who is yet to mention any further action since his initial claim.

He will now move on to his next exhibition against former undefeated boxer Don Moore which will take place atop a helipad on the plush Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai. Mayweather has since boasted that he could earn up to $100 million for his next event, by “milking” his success in boxing.

“I was able to leave boxing on my own terms and now the boxing critics are upset that I am still able to milk and finesse the sport of boxing by throwing exhibitions,” Mayweather said during an interview with Fight Hype. “Sixteen minutes and I am able to get eight and nine figures from the fruits of my labour.”
