Jake Paul has hit out at YouTube star KSI about the prize money he is rumoured to be offering Tommy Fury. The fellow content-creator-turned-boxer has claimed Fury should be paid millions more than what is currently on the table.
The proposed fight between Fury and KSI comes off the back of a bout between the Manchester-born boxer and Paul. The pair fought back in February which saw Fury claim the win via split decision.
Following the fight a rematch was considered but Paul opted to face former UFC star Nate Diaz instead. The duo will box at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on August 5.
Fury’s attention then turned to KSI, who last fought in May when he took on businessman and professional boxer Joe Fournier. Despite Paul opting out of a rematch against Fury it appears the 26-year-old is unhappy with the purse he claims is being offered to Tyson Fury’s younger brother.
Speaking via his BS w/ Jake Paul podcast, he said: “KSI is offering you like $1.5million which is way underpaid for Tommy, especially coming off that win. Tommy should be making $5-6m and it’s crazy and bizarre to me that Tommy is even entertaining that.
“But whatever he wants to do that’s why I put out the offer like, ‘Yeah let’s run it in October’ which is when that fight’s going to be anyway. I’m ready, Tommy knows it’s a bigger fight and bigger payday.”
Paul also expressed his desire for a rematch against Fury, saying: “I obviously always wanted to do the rematch, but it seems like KSI is kind of bulls***ting him and doesn’t want to make the whole entire weight situation work out. KSI loves to weight drain people as much as possible, I don’t know if the fight’s actually going to go through.
“KSI is delusional and he has the craziest ego and he thinks he’s way better than he is. Tommy’s going to knock him the f*** out but he’s going to learn, that’s fine.”
Despite rumours of a fight between Fury and KSI ramping up, the clash has come under doubt in recent weeks. In a YouTube video uploaded by KSI he vented his frusrations at the negotiations.
“I don’t think this fight is happening anymore,” he said. “Tommy Fury is simply being difficult and making this four-month negotiation an absolute chore.”
