Jake Paul has issued a fresh warning to pound-for-pound No.1 Canelo Alvarez after knocking out Tyron Woodley in their rematch.

The YouTube star picked up his fifth professional win as he stopped Woodley in the sixth round, putting a decisive end to their rivalry.

Paul has previously called out Alvarez for a fight, including the Mexican on the 13-man hit list he published before his first fight with Woodley in August.

Alvarez – who started his career at 140lbs – is expected to make the jump to cruiserweight next to fight WBC titleholder Ilunga Makabu.

It makes a fight with Paul, who weighed in at 191.4lbs for his latest bout, seem more realistic for the future as the Mexican looks to bulk up from 168lbs.

And Paul wrote to Alvarez after his latest win: “I hope you’re training.”

Paul has criticised Alvarez by claiming he can’t “sell PPV’s” and vowing to “eat him alive” in a potential fight.

But the 24-year-old recently changed his tune on the Mexican and has a newfound respect for him.

“I think he’s great,” he said during an interview for In Depth with Graham Bensinger. “I respect him.

“I think we’ve had words back-and-forth and he says I need to work on my boxing ability, which I agree with of course, 100 per cent I do.”

“I’ve really come to like his personality actually,” Paul continued. “I think when he started doing more media, showing his life behind the scenes, he never really had done that before.

“I watched [Bensinger’s interview with Alvarez] and I realised he’s a good guy and maybe in a different lifetime we would probably be friends.

“However, I still want to fight him, I still think it would be a massive fight and I think my path is leading to that.”

Alvarez initially dismissed Paul’s transition to boxing, claiming he and his brother Logan are disrespecting the sport by seeking a quick payday.

But he gave a different take when later asked about their involvement, stating the addition of Paul could bring new eyes to the sport.

He told TMZ Sports : “It’s hard to say [that I’m impressed by him]. Maybe it’s good for boxing, another audience. We don’t know, but it is what it is.

Alvarez became the first-ever undisputed super middleweight champion in boxing history last month by knocking out Caleb Plant.

It was Alvarez’s fourth win in less than twelve months after winning titles against Callum Smith and defending them with stoppages over Avni Yildrim and Billy Joe Saunders.
