Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley face off ahead of rematch

Jake Paul weighed in 2.5lbs heavier than rival Tyron Woodley ahead of their rematch on Saturday night.

Paul was backed to weigh-in at a career low, but stepped on the scale at 191lbs whilst Woodley weighed 189.6lbs.

The two fighters will meet tomorrow for the second time in an eight-round catchweight fight in Tampa, Florida.

YouTube star Paul looks for his fifth win since turning professional last year having outpointed Woodley in August.

Paul weighed 190lbs for that fight whilst former UFC champion Woodley – who was making his boxing debut – came in at 189.5lbs.

The two fighters have been more cordial with each other in the lead-up to their rematch, with Paul even gifting Woodley a Rolex watch during a face-to-face interview.

Paul knocked out YouTuber AnEsongib, former NBA player Nate Robinson and now-retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren before his win over Woodley.

The 24-year-old was originally set to fight Love Island star Tommy Fury on the December 18 event, but the Brit withdrew from the fight last week.

Woodley was filming on a movie set when he received the call-up, but had been training since October after predicting Fury’s withdrawal.

And the former UFC champion revealed he was offered other fights for better payday but explained why he chose to rematch Paul.

“There was other promotions that offered me more money to fight on their promotions than to face Paul,” Woodley told the TSN MMA Show.

“That is actually true, I have the receipts to prove it. But this fight it excited me more. It riled me up, there is more exposure and opportunities that will come from rectifying a loss against Jake.

“I can’t box one time and jump right back into MMA, I feel like if I do three or four boxing fights I will become a much sharper striker.”

Paul has hopes of becoming a world titleholder in boxing, even calling out the sport’s biggest star in Canelo Alvarez.

And ‘The Problem Child’ thinks more pressure falls on him in the rematch despite already having a win over Woodley.

“The guy’s retired and is basically 40 years old. I’m a superstar, young fighter with the potential to earn $400 million in this sport if I just win and remain undefeated,” he said.

“It’s like apples to peanuts, it’s not even close to how much is on the line for me. He already lost so he’s already dealt with those emotions, to him this is just a payday.

“There’s no meaning to his story. Is he bringing new eyeballs to the sport? No, he’s just another fighter. My story is way more important.”
