On Tuesday, Rockets rookie guard Jalen Green took another step towards returning to the starting lineup by going through a rigorous set of shooting drills with assistant coach John Lucas. It was the second time within the last week that Green was spotted taking shots after practice.
“Jalen is progressing,” said Rockets head coach Stephen Silas. “Obviously, he is out shooting right now, basically just spot shots, but moving along.” The 19-year-old has now missed five games and counting after suffering a hamstring injury versus the Chicago Bulls on Nov. 24.
Although Houston could use Green’s ball-handling skills with backcourt mate Kevin Porter Jr. also out due to a nagging left thigh contusion, they have decided that they will give him the proper amount of time to heal by evaluating him on a week-to-week basis.
On Friday, Silas will give the media another update about Green’s progression that could provide a potential return date.
