Jam band Lotus to play benefit concerts in Denver honoring percussionist Chuck Morris

Jam band Lotus postponed its April tour dates following the news that percussionist Chuck Morris and his son Charley had gone missing on a kayak trip in Arkansas. However, the band will play two benefit shows in Denver this month to celebrate Chuck and Charley, as well as raise money for the Morris family during this trying time.

Both concerts, slated for April 21 and 22 at The Fillmore Auditorium, will feature guest musicians who are friends and collaborators of Lotus and Chuck Morris. The lineup includes Jeff Franca of Thievery Corporation, Allen Aucoin of Disco Biscuits, Dave Watts of The Motet, and Jeff Lloyd of Heavy Pets to name a few. More artists are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets are now on sale for $50-$79.75 for a single show or $90 for a two-night pass at LotusVibes.com. According to the announcement, Live Nation is offering “fee free” tickets to ensure the majority of proceeds go to the Morris family.

Chuck, 47, and Charley Morris, 20, were reported missing on March 16 after they went kayaking on Beaver Lake in Rogers, Arkansas and never returned. Recovery efforts are still underway, according to Lotus’ announcement. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office was not immediately available to offer updates on the recovery.

Additionally, two east coast concerts on May 5 in Harrisburg, Pa. and on May 6 in Port Chester, N.Y. have been converted into benefit shows. Lotus’ only other scheduled tour dates this year are at music festivals.

There’s also a GoFundMe benefitting Morris’ family to which fans can donate.
