James Argent outlines plans for 2022 after dramatic weight loss

James Argent looked a shadow of his former self in a rather dashing white tuxedo.

The TOWIE star, 34, has lost a whopping 13 stone since having a gastric bypass last year.

At his heaviest, Arg weighed 27 stone, but now he’s committed to his fitness journey and dressed to impress.

Seen on the dancefloor at his pal Sadie Stuart-Wright’s 30th, the star looked dapper in a white tux, bow tie slim-fitting trousers and black patent shoes.

He also shared a pic of him and Towie star Mark Wright’s brother Josh.

Josh captioned the shot: “More and more proud every day boy @realarg.”

After gastric sleeve surgery, during which part of the stomach is stapled with the rest removed, Arg had to learn a whole new way of eating.

Then former reality regular says his binge-eating disorder spiralled out of control during lockdown.

“My whole day revolved around it – when was my next meal,” said Arg.

“I’d start off with a big full English breakfast, then throughout the day I’d have fizzy drinks, chocolate, chewy sweets and crisps. For lunch and dinner I’d have takeaways. I was bingeing on bad food from the moment I woke up.”

The former hospital radio DJ, who used to date Gemma Collins, was warned by his doctors that if he caught Covid, he may not survive.

Deciding drastic action was needed he had 70% of his stomach removed to restrict how much he can eat.

Initially, Arg’s weight goal was 15st 7lb, which his surgeon estimated would take up to 18 months to reach.

But the star, who shot to fame in reality hit The Only Way is Essex in 2010, exceeded expectations by losing almost half his bodyweight in just eight months. He now weights 14st.

Despite his stellar progress Arg said his new way of life took some getting used to.

“It took a while to adjust to the new normal, and there were moments he over-ate and became sick,” he said.

“Sometimes I’d get as hungry as I did before. When that happens you eat too quickly. It makes you feel rough and be sick and it’s extremely uncomfortable.”

He added: “I’ve learned the hard way. There’s been moments where I’ve f***ed up but now I’m used to it.”

There were concerns that Arg may have lost too much weight too quickly, but he says it’s under control.

He admitted “I’ve lost a little bit more than what I wanted to, so I want to get more toned, bulk up a little bit and maybe even put on half a stone.”

Summing up the way he feels after all his hard work, Arg said candidly: “I never imagined my life would be like this.

“I feel confident, much more energetic, happier and healthier. I’m buzzing off life.”
