James Harden found himself on the wrong side of a controversial ejection during the 76ers’ Game 3 win on Thursday night.
The Philadelphia guard was booted late in the third quarter after he was issued a flagrant 2 foul. The call came as the result of a collision with Brooklyn Nets guard Royce O’Neal.

The NBA world was up-in-arms about this call, not believing the foul deserved such a severe penalty.
Harden agreed with this sentiment.
“Unacceptable,” he said after the game, per ESPN. “Unacceptable flagrant 2. First time I’ve been ejected. I’m not labeled as a dirty player and I didn’t hit him in a private area. Somebody is draped on you like that defensively, that’s a natural basketball reaction. I didn’t hit him hard enough for him to fall down like that. But for a flagrant 2, it’s unacceptable. This is a playoff game. We’ve seen around the league, things are much worse than what that play was. Honestly, I didn’t think it was a foul on me. But that’s unacceptable. It can’t happen.”
Fortunately for the Sixers, this ejection didn’t cost them the game. The Philadelphia squad took a 3-0 series lead with a 102-97 final score.
Harden had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists before his ejection.
