Jamie Foxx moved to Chicago center known for stroke and brain injury care: report

Jamie Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, was being more or less straight up with fans last week when she said her father was “out of the hospital and recuperating.”

But the 55-year-old actor hasn’t returned home, with a new report saying he’s recuperating in a Chicago rehab center known for stroke, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury care. The report from TMZ will no doubt renew speculation about the undisclosed “medical complication” that the “Ray” star suffered last month.

TMZ broke the news Monday that Foxx was in Chicago at a facility, “touted as the top physical medicine and rehabilitation center in the country.” The gossip and entertainment site also published photos of family members, including his daughters Corinne and Anelise, arriving at the center over the weekend to spend time with Foxx during his continued care.

TMZ didn’t name the center, but one facility in Chicago, with a no. 1 ranking from U.S. and World Report for adult specialty care, said it treats people suffering from serious and severe conditions such as injuries to the brain and spinal cord and cerebral palsy. Treatment at this center also is available for common injuries and ailments such as sports-related injuries or serious arthritis.

Just as TMZ published this report Monday, Corinne Foxx touted other family news on her Instagram Story — that she and her father would co-host a musical TV game show called “We Are Family.” The show is expected to debut on Fox in 2024, People reported. The father-daughter duo also headline the music game show “Beat Shazam.” Nick Cannon and guest DJ Kelly Osborne have stepped in to co-host as Foxx recovers from his undisclosed condition.

Last Friday, Corinne Foxx lashed out at the media for running “wild” with stories suggesting that her father had suffered a debilitating medical crisis that was still keeping him in the hospital after more than a month.

On Instagram Story, Corinne Foxx said her father has been “out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating.” She said he is doing so well in his recovery that he “was playing pickle ball yesterday!” Corinne Foxx’s post was a clapback to a recent report that said the Foxx family was “preparing for the worst.”

Corinne Foxx again said nothing about the nature of her father’s condition or the medical complication that led to his reported hospitalization in Atlanta on April 11. She announced on Instagram on April 12 that her Oscar-winning father had “experienced a medical complication” the day before while he was in Atlanta filming the Netflix movie, “Back in Action,” which also stars Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close.

Since the April 12 announcement, the family has released a few cryptic details about his condition, relying on such famous friends as Nick Cannon or Kevin Hart to offer encouraging updates. However, some of the statements, which are meant to offer reassurance,  could be read in different ways and raise more questions than answers.

On April 24, Cannon told Entertainment Tonight that his friend is “awake” and “alert,” the Daily Beast reported. In a May 2 podcast interview with Logan Paul, Hart said his friend was on the mend and making progress, E! News reported. But Hart also suggested last week that Foxx was in some place other than home.
