Jamie Foxx’s mystery medical issue follows ‘meltdown’ on movie set, other production ‘chaos’

Jamie Foxx continues to undergo tests in a Georgia hospital, nearly a week after he suffered an unidentified “medical complication,” which at one point reportedly left him unable to communicate.

While Foxx’s family has declined to reveal the nature of his condition, CNN reported that the 55-year-old Oscar winner continues to undergo tests to “figure out what exactly happened.” The medical emergency also follows reports that Foxx was dealing with the stressful production of his latest film, “Back in Action,” which has been promoted as a vehicle to bring his co-star Cameron Diaz out of retirement.

The Sun initially reported last month that production on the Netflix action-comedy, which began in London in December, had been thrown “into chaos” because Foxx had a “meltdown” and fired a bunch of people. According to The Sun, Foxx fired an executive producer, two directors and even his own driver. The Sun said that Foxx’s actions had made him “pretty unpopular.”

“There have been some issues on set and Jamie has had a major meltdown over it all,” a source told The Sun.

In a follow-up report, The Sun suggested that the “Ray” actor had a reason for being angry about at least one issue. Someone involved in the London production had been fired over a scam to access about $40,000 in cash from the actor through the sale of a Rolex watch. Police in London were contacted after it was learned that this person may have been linked to previous attempts to extract large sums of  money from wealthy stars.

The firings and the alleged scam, however, were only the latest incidents causing production delays in London.

“There have been a lot of delays, especially with the weather, thanks to filming outdoors in London in winter,” a source told The Sun.  The Daily Mail also reported that production was halted when an unexploded World War II bomb was discovered in a location where two major action scenes were to be filmed.

Production of “Back in Action,” which also co-stars Glenn Close, subsequently moved to Atlanta, where Foxx was photographed April 10 filming a scene in which he appeared to be coaching a women’s soccer team, TMZ reported.

News that Foxx was in the hospital came last Wednesday from the actor’s daughter, Corinne Foxx. She revealed on Instagram that he had sustained “a medical complication” the previous day, April 11, People reported. She did not share details of Foxx’s state or what caused his health emergency. She insisted that, “due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery.”

CNN cited a source Monday who said the emergency didn’t happen on the set and Foxx was not transported by an emergency vehicle to the hospital. TMZ reported last Thursday that Foxx’s condition was serious enough that family members flew in to be by his side, though the actor also reportedly was joking with them.

CNN said Monday said that doctors are still trying to figure out what’s going on with the actor. “They are running tests and still trying to figure out what exactly happened,” a source told CNN.

Meanwhile, production on “Back in Action” is expected to continue and to wrap up next week, CNN reported. TMZ shared photos of Foxx’s double being used to film some scenes.
