Jamie Redknapp – The history behind one of the most irritating things in modern football

Football now is full of things that make you roll your eyes isn’t it? ‘Can I have your shirt signs?’ and goal music are two of the worst ones that spring to mind. But thanks to a new documentary out today, we see, for the first time, the history behind one of the most irritating things in modern football.

Episode one of Jamie Redknapp Investigates, the first instalment of a brilliant new hard-hitting three-part documentary series by Paddy Power, shows the treatment table specialist-turned-pundit elbowing his way onto the documentary scene, as he tries to understand how football could possibly have adopted something as annoying as a half-and-half scarf.

Not for the faint-hearted football fan, fearless reporter Redknapp, 48 and still really handsome, dives deep into football’s underbelly to learn the truth. Redknapp even tracks down its tragic divorcee inventor (Brian) at his warehouse, who reveals the first half-and-half scarf, “Arse-land”. The worst thing Arsenal have had its name attached to since Shkodran Mustafi. And, as it’s the sort of thing you’re supposed to do now, Redknapp even looks at the environmental impact of the ghastly neckwear industry, learning from environmental activist (Lisa) how even animals are getting dragged into this sartorial nightmare.

Do you know the truth? You will soon. And you’ll also learn a bit about scarves and baboons. Eat your heart out Michael Moore.
