Jarrell Miller’s promoter is hoping to make a fight with Dillian Whyte and insists the American heavyweight can earn another world title shot.
‘Big Baby’ fought for the first time in four years in June having been banned from the sport for repeated drug offences – the first of which cost him a title shot against Anthony Joshua in 2019.
The 33-year-old is looking to re-establish himself in the division and is planning to fight again this month after such a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Miller’s promoter Dmitry Salita is hoping to secure a huge fight in the very near future and has named a bout against Brixton heavyweight Whyte as ‘one of the most explosive fights’ in the division.
‘The personalities, the styles – Jarrell will come to fight, he’ll come to seek and destroy and put on a show for the fans,’ Salita told Lord Ping. ‘And then there’s the crossroads nature of this fight that makes it a really interesting tussle.
‘Their blend of characters would create a huge spectacle and the winner would be in line for a world title shot – the build up alone would be box office.’
With Whyte’s promotional future uncertain, Salita plans to discuss the fight with BOXXER chief Ben Shalom – who recently signed Joseph Parker to bolster their own heavyweight ranks.
‘Dillian, as I understand it, is not tied to a network. He has a history of great fights on Sky Sports. I’m over in the UK right now and it’s something I’ll drop into conversation with Ben Shalom. Dillian has a history of huge fights on Sky and Jarrell Miller will make another great dance partner.
Miller was in the UK earlier this year, putting in some rounds with Tyson Fury during the final sparring sessions before his devastating knockout win over Whyte at Wembley.
‘Jarrell is happy to go to the UK, which has become the centre of heavyweight boxing. He loved the camp with Tyson Fury.
‘He also enjoyed working with Sugar Hill Steward, Fury’s trainer. As of now Jarrell is not working with Sugar Hill full time but that could change in the future.”
‘He learnt a lot from working with the heavyweight champion of the world and now Jarrell’s ready to follow in Tyson’s footsteps and KO Whyte – but he has to be at his very best.
‘Whyte is a world class fighter who has shown incredible ability to come back on top after defeats. But Jarrell at his best is one of the leading heavyweights in the world. I am confident that at his best he has the ability to not only beat Whyte, but stop him.’
