The Repair Shop, which returns to BBC One on Wednesday, is one of Britain’s most successful and most uplifting TV shows. The heart-warming show never fails to put viewers in a good mood, and most of the time, it’s down to the host Jay Blades and his team of experts. On the team are 10 experts who are always willing to go above and beyond for their customers. Jay Blades recently spoke about his team on the show and how they helped him and each other through tough times.
The Repair Shop team are a community of their own, to which Jay told The Telegraph: “We really do get on, when you work with the people you work with for so long, you become a family.
“A few years ago, when I was going through a divorce, I needed a family to support me, and they did. They helped me to get back to who I am.”
When speaking about what he brings to the team, he joked: “I’m a nosy b*****d, I love to listen and ask questions.
“When someone comes through the door for the first time, it can be scary: the cameras, the lights, the crew. It’s my job to put people at ease.” Credit where quotes are from please

Another member of their crew who knows the heartache of losing someone and having their The Repair Shop family present is Suzie Fletcher.
Suzie joined the show not long after her husband died of pancreatic cancer, and she’d returned home after 22 years living in Colorado.
“Emotionally, physically, mentally, I was gone,” she said. “But here, listening to everyone else’s stories, I realised I wasn’t alone.
“You feel like you can say anything here, and nobody’s going to judge you: They’ll just wrap their arms around you, this place repairs my heart.”
When guests walk into the barn, Jay’s table is the first thing they see, alongside other experts who would be the best fit for the specific item they bring in.
Experts on the show, such as Dom Chinea, the only metalworker on the show, painting conservator Lucia Scalini, ceramics conservator Kirsten Ramsay, and teddy bear restorers Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell are what makes the show so wholesome.
There’s more than 600 years’ worth of experience in the barn. Each expert has professional pride in wanting to do the best job possible.
Jay is adamant that such pride “comes second to the pressure of knowing that they’ve got someone’s family heirloom and what an honour it is to be entrusted with that”.
